The Best Toys For
Boys
Mancala

My
youngest boy, Jakob got Mancala for Christmas and once he started
playing this game he
pretty much asked to play it every day. Mancala supposedly the
world's oldest game and my boy found it pretty easy to learn. Jakob was
winning after just
a few minutes of learning the game.
Blockhead

I saw Blockhead on Amazon and quickly
thought my boys would love it. I was right,
it was fairly cheap, only $7. Both of my boys love trying to make the
next
player knock it over. The basic idea is to stack various
shaped
blocks so the next player can’t put another piece on top
without it falling over. It's a lot of fun but, to be honest, I think I
will buy another one because sometimes we end up running out of pieces
without anyone winning.
Wee
Little Piggies

This game is a great and different take on the classic, Memory.
Instead
of just using cards it uses little pigs in their pen that have
different sayings from the "Little Piggies that went to the market".
The players are required to get all of the sayings in order to move
spaces along the board. My boys have a great time trying to get
the sayings in order. This Wee Little Piggies is easy enough for a 3 year old and
still a
lot of fun for me too. I love seeing my boys face when I get 3 in a row
then pick the wrong pig next. He laughs at me then tries to do it
himself.
Cranium
Cariboo

This was Jakob's absolute favorite game from ages 3
to
4 1/2. When he first got the game we played it almost
everyday. Jakob's interest in Cariboo slowed down over the years but we still
play it once in a while. It is a very simple and easy to
clean up. It teaches basic numbers, colors, letters and shapes. The
game is set up so that you need to pick a card then match it to a
panel. After which you can open the panel with the key to hopefully
reveal a
brightly colored ball. Once the ball is revealed you put it in another
slot. Once the slot is filled the last ball put in opens the
treasure chest.
