The Best Toys For
Boys
EyeClops

Jakob my
youngest boy got this for Christmas. It took a while before we got
around to opening it. Both boys have a great time trying to
find something gross to look at. The EyeClops is kind of like a
magnfying glass and a microscope in one. It can easily be moved around
and can see objects extremely close. We looked at salt crystals,
carpet, skin, dog fur, toys, fruit and coins. But the boys
favorite stuff to look at are inside peoples ears and noses. I guess it
is
great for boys although some parents might get grossed out.
Nintendo
DS Lite

Handheld games have improved so much sine I was a
boy. I used
to have the first Game
Boy and it was great back then, but this
is amazing. My boys always want to play it and it keeps them
busy on
long car rides and at any boring place I need to drag the kids to. The
touch screen is really cool and is incorporated into lots of the games.
The graphics are not as good as the PSP, however I think the game play
is
much better, especially for kids under 12. Parents can get used games
pretty cheap from the various video game stores. Also if your kids
already have a Game Boy
Advanced, the Nintendo
DS can play those games
too.
When I saw that we can play the New
Super Mario Bros. on it I had
to get it. There was a reason
that Mario pretty
much built Nintendo. My boys, my wife and I all love the game. Another
game my boys like is Animal
Genius .
It has
little
games on it and you earn points to build animal habitats. My oldest boy
(7) loves animals and can’t get enough of it. We recently bought
Yoshi's
Island
and the boys love that too. Yoshi can carry various baby
Mario characters and each one gives Yoshi different powers to get
through
the side scrolling levels. It is nice that you can get second chances
before Yoshi loses a life. If Yoshi gets hit the baby falls off.
But, Yoshi has a certain amount of time to catch them before
you
lose.
Wii

We
don’t actually own the Nintendo Wii yet but the boys have played it at
their cousins a few times and love it. Parents often tell their kids to
stop playing video games and go outside. With the Wii parents will tell
the kids to start playing video games. Children may not get the fresh
air but
they will get plenty of exercise. Just make sure their aren’t too many
fragile things around where you set it up. My boys played the bowling
game and had to swing their arms to make the ball roll. Super
Mario Galaxy didn’t
require as much movement and the boys still loved it. My cousins were
playing Dance
Dance Revolution and never stopped moving.
In The
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game
you move the controller like a sword and real in fish like a real
fisherman instead of just pressing buttons. The graphics aren’t as
realistic as the XBox 360 or the Playstation 3. Instead the Wii is all
about game play. I think great game play has been over looked for
the past few years. A lot of games would look great but lack fun.
Sure you could see pores on the faces of Xbox game
characters but you wouldn’t want to play the game again. The
Wii
is still pretty hard to find. So you probably need to get on a waiting
list at a video game store.
Recently my boys played Super
Smash Bros. Brawl at the video
game store and I couldn't get them to leave. The boys absolutely loved
the
game.
